Ronald Ddungu - Team Leader Holistic eLearning Platform (HeLP).

Following his triple passion for agriculture, education innovation and teacher training, Ronald Ddungu was among the initiators of the Holistic eLearning Platform in 2019, with a distinguished public service career in Uganda’s education system on his record. His goal is to strengthen the teacher professional development programs of his home country and to make sure that future teachers are more effective using project-based learning and the new technologies.

Trained as a Physics and Mathematics teacher, Ronald is an educator at heart. A true teacher leader, he was a teacher, head of department and deputy head teacher at Gayaza High School in Kampala for more than 20 years. He improved the quality and relevance of education, pioneering the practical teaching of agriculture as a cross-cutting priority throughout all subjects of the curriculum. The School Farm Camps that Ronald initiated at Gayaza High School still teach youth entrepreneurship, leadership and service. He was later to join St. Mary’s College Kisubi where he carried all his innovations and flourished. Ronald was later to be appointed Education Expert at the Office of the Prime Minister and currently works with VVOB education for development a Belgian organization, to strengthen the capacity of teacher trainers within the National Teachers’ Colleges in Uganda.

In recognition of his remarkable achievements, Ronald was selected as one of the 50 finalists for the Global Teacher Prize in 2015. He continues to act as a master teacher with iEARN-USA and as lead consultant in the development of the Gayaza High School eLearning platform.

Ronald is now leading the development and implementation of the Holistic eLearning platform , the Home to eLearning for many Ugandan schools.

Ronald Ddungu holds an M.Sc. in Education for Sustainability from London South Bank University and an M.A. in Education Management from Makerere University.
